ABOUT DISCGOLF

What is Discgolf? Discgolf is a precision sport where players throw a flying disc (or frisbee) towards a target, typically a metal basket. The objective is to complete the Discgolf Arena in the fewest number of throws. It combines the fun of traditional golf with the excitement of throwing discs, making it accessible to players of all ages and skill levels.

Brief History: Originating in the 1960s, Discgolf has grown into a popular sport worldwide. The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) was founded in 1976, and since then, Discgolf has seen tremendous growth, with thousands of Discgolf Arenas and players around the globe.

How to Play

The Basics:

Equipment: All you need is a few discs (driver, mid-range, and putter) and comfortable attire. Many discs can be rented at Arenas, or they can be purchased at local sports stores or online.

Discgolf Arena Layout: A standard Discgolf Arena consists of 9 or 18 holes. Each hole has a tee pad where players begin their throw and a target basket where players aim to land their disc.

Scoring: Similar to traditional golf, players keep score based on the number of throws taken to complete each hole. The player with the lowest score at the end of the Discgolf Arena wins.

Playing Etiquette: Respect fellow players and nature. Always wait for others to finish before throwing and help keep the Discgolf Arena clean.

Tips for Beginners

Disc Selection: Choose a lightweight disc for easier handling and control, ideal for beginners.

Grip and Stance: Practice different throwing grips (backhand, forehand) and find a stance that offers balance and power.

Practice Makes Perfect: Regular practice will improve your throwing technique and confidence.
